Outside Scholarship Awarding

For students who have been awarded a private scholarship, the amount will be distributed evenly between the fall and spring semesters of the academic year by default, unless the scholarship organization provides specific instructions regarding allocation. We strongly encourage the scholarship organization to clarify how the funds may be used.

External scholarships, when combined with all other financial aid, should not exceed the total cost of attendance for the student. These scholarships are primarily intended to cover any remaining unmet financial need, and if necessary, they can be used to reduce loans and/or work-study. If adjustments are required for existing federal, state and/or institutional grants or scholarships, the Financial Aid Office will get in touch with the scholarship organization to determine the best way to allocate the funds.

Scholarship organizations are encouraged to utilize electronic transfers to prevent delays or the risk of lost checks. Please contact finaid@cca.edu for wire transfer information. If necessary, checks may be mailed to the following address:

Outside Scholarship Opportunities

In addition to the financial aid assistance available through CCA, the Office of Financial Aid encourages students to seek sources of funding that are outside of the college, especially through those organizations with which they are familiar. Our office attempts to keep the list of non-CCA scholarship opportunities current; however, scholarship information can change without notice. Contact the scholarship organization directly for the most up-to-date information.

Please note: Students should never have to pay for grant or scholarship information. Contact the Office of Financial Aid with any questions about an organization or company that requests or requires payment in order to receive or apply for scholarships or grants.
