All-College Honors Awards

Last updated on May 03, 2023

Each spring CCA sponsors the All-College Honors Awards competition, which are then granted during the fall semester. Twenty-three scholarship awards are given to students in the BA, BFA, and BArch undergraduate programs.

Merit prizes are awarded based on a juried portfolio review. Enrolled undergraduate students are eligible to submit portfolios for this one-year prize.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Entrant must be a full-time student enrolled in a degree-seeking program during the spring semester and must plan to enroll as a full-time student in the fall. Students expecting to graduate in spring or summer semesters are ineligible. (Note: Continuing Graduate Comics students are eligible as long as they are enrolled in 6 units during the fall semester.)
  • Entrant must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and in good academic standing.
  • Recipients of the Hamaguchi Award are ineligible to compete in the visual works category.

Award recipients must be enrolled full-time at the college in the fall semester; otherwise, the award is relinquished and granted to the next honorable mention recipient in the category.

Undergraduate Means of Entry

Design & Architecture Awards

Students who are Design and Architecture majors are eligible for the Undergraduate Design and Architecture Award(s), which will be juried during the Junior Review. All students who participate in the review will be considered for the award.

Fine Arts Award

Students who are Fine Arts majors are eligible for the Undergraduate Fine Arts Award(s), which will be juried in the Spring semester. All students who meet the eligibility requirements must apply through the Fine Arts office to be considered for the award, with the exception of Animation and Film majors. All eligible Animation and Film majors are considered for the award based on their participation in Junior Review. There is no connection between the Undergraduate Fine Arts Award(s) and Junior Review for any programs other than Animation and Film.

Writing Award

Students who are either Writing and Literature or Visual Studies majors are eligible for the Undergraduate Writing Award, which will be juried during the Junior Review. All students who participate in the review will be considered for the award.

First Year Award

New first-year students, transfer, and second-degree students who are currently taking Core Studio courses are eligible for the First-Year Award(s), which are juried during the First-Year portfolio review.

Students who participate in the review are considered for the award. This is a merit award offered to student(s) who are in good academic standing and represent leadership in the First-Year Community.

For more information, please contact the First Year Program Office at firstyear@cca.edu.

Recipients of undergraduate award(s) are selected by an interdisciplinary faculty jury from CCA. Also, the review process of the All-College Honors is separate from the Junior Review results.
