Event description
The CCA animation faculty approaches animated cinema and artmaking from many diverse backgrounds and practices including the feature film, professional studio environment; animated fine art studio practice; independent animated films for festivals; experimental practices, painting and sculpture. This exhibition shows how each of us uses broadly different animated or static art in our practices, and how each fits into the community and pedagogy of CCA animation.
Animation itself is a thoroughly multidisciplinary practice, both in its fundamental structure – how it’s made – and also reflected in the many representational methods that make up the historical practice. Picture-making, sound, movement, music, representation, abstraction, entertainment, and experimentation have all been a part of the medium since its inception. All those strands are present in today’s animation practices and in the work of the animation faculty.
Participating artists: Rick Vertolli, Andrew Lyndon, Patricia Kavanaugh, Amy Gohal, George Evelyn, Tim Soman, Meghana Bisineer, Amy Lu, and more.
