Shylah Pacheco Hamilton discusses how Indigenous science, specifically divination can be used in digital film production. Discussion hosted by CCA Film Faculty Helen de Michiel and her Senior Projects Class.

THIS EVENT IS PART OF THE FIRST-EVER CCA FILM WEEK, a time for our community to come together, to explore, reflect on and celebrate the power and potential of the moving image, the diversity of voices working in this field and our questions related to racial and social justice.


Participant Bios: 

Shylah Pacheco Hamilton (CCA Faculty, Chair of the Critical Ethnic Studies Program) is an Afrosurrealist filmmaker whose creative research interests meet at the crossroads of experimental video, decolonial feminisms, digital diasporas, and ritual performance. Shylah is also chair of the CCA Critical Ethnic Studies program, co-founder of Decolonial School, and sits on the board of The Edwidge Danticat Society.
