Event description
Emily Greer is currently working on a series of comic book inspired drawings that explore contemporary issues through the guise of art history. Greer appropriates aspects of Western master paintings based on the historical context and content where the efficacy or intended message of the painting is highly problematic. The archaic messages of the patriarchy are all too familiar, because they continue to be perpetuated in our contemporary culture. Greer's work attempts to reconcile the past while emphasizing that the journey to equality still lies further ahead.
