Exhibition Images

Presented by Ava Morton, Efe Ozmen, Maxine Schoefer-Wulf, and Palija Shrestha.

"Substrate(s)" is a weeklong activation that considers meaning-making and translations: of materials, between bodies, and across time. In dialogue with one another, Ava Morton, Efe Ozmen, Maxine Schoefer-Wulf, and Palija Shrestha have each made one moving image work. They consider parameters of subjectivity and repetition, relationships between body and screen, reconstructions of a fragmented identity, and moon time. With an interest in context-making, un-making and re-making, each video will be shown in the space for one day, looping for the span of the day and being replaced the next. Collectively, the moving image works act as the substrate for translations in new materials by each artist, which will be installed in the Hubbell Street Gallery all week long.

On Thursday evening, the artists will host a public screening of all four videos with snacks and wine, a Q&A and short texts curated by the artists offered as ephemeral takeaways.
