Dear CCA Students, Faculty, and Staff:

Beginning Friday, October 15, bikes will no longer be allowed indoors in any CCA campus facility. As a more secure alternative, the college constructed a purpose-built bike storage room in Founders Hall (see access information below). Public Safety encourages CCA students, faculty, and staff to use the new Founders Hall bike room, or the exterior bike racks behind the gate in the courtyard between Founders Hall and 184 Hooper Street.

The majority of the bike racks located in the main building in San Francisco were removed over the summer, and the remaining two will be removed this week. The bike racks were removed due to egress and ingress issues at the front entrance of the main building, bicycle thefts, and several accidents, including slips and falls due to water being tracked in by bikes during the rainy season.

Please register for use of the new bike parking area by completing this Bike Access Request Form. The Public Safety team will process your request within 1-2 business days and provide you with “ID Card Access Only” to the new secure location(s) for storing your bicycle.

If you were previously granted Hooper gate access (but you had not registered using the Access Request form) your access has been removed. Please register and we will re-grant you access to the gate as well as the indoor bike room.

Regarding Scooters: Motorized scooters and larger, full-size scooters will also be directed to be parked in the Founders bike room. Compact scooters that can be folded may be carried into CCA facilities as long as they are stored in a location that will not impede evacuation in an emergency.

Safety for all our community members is paramount, and I thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding with this change.
