Message to Students Regarding Spring 2022

Posted October 4, 2021, 2:51 PM by David Owens-Hill Updated October 6, 2021, 4:20 PM

Dear CCA Students,

As we wrap up our fifth week, we hope you are settled into the fall semester and enjoying your classes. It has been thrilling to see our community on campus again and we are very much looking forward to the year ahead of us.

It is already time to start thinking about spring semester and we are excited to announce that we are planning a “back to normal” in-person spring schedule, with a full return to on-campus courses.

You can expect the spring 2022 course schedule to be published on October 18th and we encourage you to schedule an advising appointment to discuss any questions you may have about your course selections for next semester.

CCA is not currently accredited to teach online or hybrid classes after December 2021. Therefore, we must plan to be fully in-person for the upcoming spring term. We are seeking approval from our accrediting body to hold a small number of lecture and seminar courses online in spring, but we cannot plan on that at this time.

We feel confident about our plans to return to campus full time, because our CCA community, and the Bay Area broadly, has shown a strong commitment to our own and each other’s safety. At this time, we have 100% vaccination rates among faculty and staff who are present on campus, and a 99.6% vaccination rate among students on campus. In addition, we have all been practicing safe health and wellbeing behaviors on campus by wearing masks and following our college policies, and the college has continued to follow local, state, and federal guidelines. As always, if guidance changes, CCA will adapt and modify our plans accordingly.

We will be communicating more specific details in the coming weeks, but for now, we wanted to get this good news to you in a timely manner.

All our best,

Tammy Rae Carland, Provost
George Luis Sedano, Vice President, Student Affairs
