Vaccination Requirement for Fall 2021

The message below was emailed to the CCA community on May 5, 2021.

Dear Students,

We are excited to be together again on campus this fall. While we expect certain safety measures like masks and social distancing will continue to be required, the vaccines currently available in the United States have been shown to be safe and effective at preventing COVID-19. Because of this, all CCA students taking on-campus classes and/or living in campus housing will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by September 1.

  • Vaccines are generally available in California to anyone over the age of 16. To find vaccination appointments visit myturn.ca.gov or vaccines.gov. Other regions in the U.S. and internationally may have limited available doses. If you are unable to receive the vaccination where you are, we will assist you when you arrive in the Bay Area.
  • Students who live on campus that arrive unvaccinated will be required to quarantine for 10 days, and to schedule a vaccination as soon as possible. Students who live in CCA housing will receive more details in an upcoming email with move-in information.
  • Students who are not vaccinated and have not received an exemption or made a plan to be vaccinated by September 1 will be removed from all in-person classes.

Although the college will require all students, staff, and faculty to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the fall 2021 semester, we recognize the need for exemptions in some circumstances. If you are unable or unwilling to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and believe you qualify for an exemption (disability, medical, or religious), please email the Dean of Students office at deanofstudents@cca.edu to discuss reasonable accommodations.

In addition to the three U.S. approved vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson), vaccines approved by international governments will be accepted. If you are coming from outside the U.S. you are strongly encouraged to get a vaccine approved for use in the U.S., if possible. If you are unable to receive a vaccination where you are, we will help you find a pathway to a vaccination. Please contact us using the email address above to discuss your specific situation.

Dear Students,

Last week the college announced a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for all students, faculty, and staff who will be on campus for fall 2021. As a reminder, by September 1, students who are not vaccinated and have not received an exemption or made a plan to be vaccinated will be removed from all in-person classes. Please find the email shared last week below, for your reference. 

To update your vaccination status, please log into Workday and follow these instructions. Entering your vaccination status as soon as possible will help inform updates to existing on-campus policies and protocols, while continuing to ensure that we keep our community safe and healthy. 

Feel free to reach out with questions, request an exemption, or request an extension of the September 1 deadline by emailing deanofstudents@cca.edu.
