Albums in this collection represent exhibitions by students, faculty, alumni, and visiting artists that have taken place on the San Francisco and Oakland campuses.
Creative Citizens in Action: 2020–Present
Creative Citizens in Action (CCA@CCA) is a college-wide initiative that promotes creative activism and democratic engagement through public programs, exhibitions, and curriculum connections.
Founded in 2018, the initiative grew out of CCA’s collaboration with alumni Hank Willis Thomas and For Freedoms and is being expanded based on a shared desire by CCA students, faculty, and staff for more connected programming related to art, activism, social justice, democratic engagement, and current events. CCA@CCA is overseen by the Exhibitions & Public Programming department in partnership with Student Affairs, Libraries, Academic Divisions, Communications, and faculty.
BFA Senior Thesis Conversations: 2020–Present
BFA Senior Thesis Conversations are live virtual events where graduating students from CCA's Textiles, Photography, Individualized Studies, Sculpture, Glass, Printmedia, Jewelry and Metal Arts, Ceramics, Community Arts, and Painting and Drawing programs publicly share their capstone work.
Each event features student presentations, responses from art professionals, and time for discussion. Through this online presentation we celebrate each student’s dedication to art-making during their time at CCA, and provide a way for family, friends, and the general public to connect with and celebrate student work.

Rewind Review Respond: 2020–Present
Rewind Review Respond (RRR) is an online forum where CCA students write about recent CCA events and the ideas that affect their practice, communities, and fields of study. RRR was founded in fall 2020 by Katherine Jemima Hamilton (Curatorial Practice & Visual and Critical Studies, 2022) and the Exhibitions Department.

Rachel Berger (Chair & Associate Professor, CCA Graphic Design program) gives a tour of "Shooter Box" at the CCA Hubbell Street Galleries.
The United States military has been integrating Microsoft Xbox video game controllers into battle equipment for more than a decade. Officials tout the ergonomic, cost savings, and training advantages of the cheap off-the-shelf controllers—soldiers who grew up playing Xbox can teach themselves its military applications within minutes. Of course, the controller is inscribed with far more consequential meanings and values than the military acknowledges. It is a child’s toy transformed into a weapon of war. This exhibition features designed objects responding to this disturbing cultural phenomenon, as well as a selection of the objects, videos, and other cultural artifacts that inspired these works.

A virtual walkthrough of Jen Bervin's new exhibition Jen Bervin: "Doing And Undoing" at Catharine Clark Gallery led by the artist. Encompassing fiber works, installation, and video, Jen Bervin’s presentation draws on the poetic tensions of text/textile, inviting viewers to reflect on language as a material and technology for intimate forms of connection.
Hosted by CCA Exhibitions and organized and moderated by Emily Markert, On/View aims to create a virtual space wherein students can engage in regular dialogue with each other and with emerging and established local artists in a casual yet informative way. The series will feature tours and discussions with artists and gallerists in San Francisco and Oakland.
On/View: Tour Sea Change at Ratio 3 with Chris Perez

This first On/View event features a virtual walkthrough and discussion of Ratio 3’s current exhibition Sea Change with Owner and Curator Chris Perez. Sea Change presents an immersive experience of Japanese ceramics, sculptural objects, minimal painting, and photography that emphasize the sensibilities shared among a diverse group of international artists working across disparate media and artistic traditions. Organized and moderated by Emily Markert.
In Conversation: Glammy Rose Spencer + Jacob Boehme

Featured HIV Howler Issue 5 artists Glammy Rose Spencer and Jacob Boehme come together again for a live conversation on HIV, honouring poz women, and channeling intergenerational ancestry through art and dance. Glammy Rose Spencer is an Oakland-based artist and educator. Jacob Boehme is a Melbourne-based artist of the Narangga and Kaurna Nations, South Australia. Presented in conjunction with Love Positive Women.
This event was part of The HIV Howler IN CONVERSATION, an online program of conversations, artworks and performances curated by Anthea Black and Jessica Whitbread from December 4, 2020 to February 28, 2021.

Anthea Black and Jessica Whitbread share works by HIV+ artists featured in The HIV Howler Issue 5: TIME + MONEY, and release the first wave of results from their Wage Survey for Artists Living with HIV, completed while in residence at Real Time + Space. This issue features the works of artists, writers, and activists living with HIV from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and the United States.
