For students first matriculating in Fall 2016, the curricular requirements for the three-year Visual and Critical Studies (MA) + Writing (MFA) dual-degree option are as follows:


VCS courses (30 units):

  • Methodologies 1 (6 units)
  • Methodologies 2 (6 units)
  • Strategies for Visual & Critical Studies(3 units)
  • Identity, Difference, & Power (3 units)
  • VCS Topics (6 units)
  • Master’s Project 1 & 2 (6 units)

Writing courses (39 units):

  • Writer's Workshop (12 units)
  • Mentored Study (12 units)
  • Friday Seminar (3 units)
  • Writing Seminar (9 units)
  • Thesis Project (3 units)

Electives

  • Grad-wide electives (6 units)

Total units: 75
