Exhibitions Graphic Designer

Last updated on Apr 10, 2024

The Graphic Designer leads the development of visual identities for initiatives and program series organized by CCA's Exhibitions Department. There are three categories of design work that the Exhibitions Department commissions from the Graphic Designer:

  • 40% Visual identities for exhibitions (vinyl wall texts, posters, signage, social media assets, and brochures)
  • 20% Digital graphics and print posters for Creative Citizens in Action (CCA@CCA), referencing chris hamamoto and jon sueda's original CCA@CCA branding
  • 40% RRR editorial design (a design treatment for the year plus design and formatting for each review/interview)

Examples of work created by past Exhibitions Graphic Designers include Ramyatara Mullapudi's Stories of Us design, Anjni Shah's New Suns design, Sarah Chieko Bonnickson's Fluid Mutualism design, Sora Won's Fluid Mutualism Symposium branding, and Mingke Yu's exhibition print and digital graphics

The Exhibitions Graphic Designer is scheduled to work 8 hours per week, but exact hours vary based on deliverable deadlines. During the school year, the designer works at least one 5-hour shift per week at the front desk of the CCA Campus Gallery. During this shift, the designer is responsible for gallery sitting duties, including opening and closing the exhibition, monitoring the gallery space, and answering visitor questions. Most of the shift can be dedicated to the completion of graphic design deliverables. Working onsite at the Campus Gallery allows the Graphic Designer to become familiar with the space for which they are designing exhibition identities, and to run design ideas by the Exhibitions team/discuss feedback in-person. Additional design work can be completed from home.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in graphic design for both print and digital platforms
  • Fluency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
  • Keen attention to detail and an ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities

Hourly Rate: $18.07.

The Graphic Designer reports to CCA's Gallery Manager.
