Dear CCA Community,
On November 15, we will take a moment to appreciate the remarkable effort of so many in bringing CCA to the launch of our site development of Double Ground, which extends our campus unification work in San Francisco. Leading up to the event, the college has become aware of a petition to include a broader representation of voices from Native American and Indigenous communities with essential ties to the entire Bay Area and the land upon which our campus is located.
Over the last several years, it has been our desire to acknowledge the Ohlone Peoples as original stewards of these lands and to create greater consciousness and understanding across our curriculum and physically on-site at CCA. As part of these important, ongoing discussions, we understand that knowledge and language may continue to evolve, and therefore we especially remain committed to our work with the City of San Francisco, as well as building and sustaining relationships with Indigenous communities throughout the Bay Area.
We remain committed to ongoing dialogue with Indigenous representatives associated with our interpretive planning of the site which is Double Ground. That effort will be led by our Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Tricia Brand, to support the college in re-establishing pathways for information sharing and partnership that is so central to the future experience of CCA.
