INSTALLATION TOOLS AND HARDWARE

The Exhibition Department keeps the items on the following tool and hardware lists readily available at the Novack Gallery for installation and deinstallation and you can expect to have access to the listed items at the gallery, during your designated installation timeframes. We also have a variety of equipment that is not listed. If you require tools or hardware that are not on these lists you are welcome to Email Installation Manager Manuel Angeja ([email protected]) to ask if we have those items. If we do not have the items you will need to source them from elsewhere or make do with what we have. We may be able to help direct you to a source or suggest other solutions.

Tools

We have limited numbers of some of these tools. Tools with limited numbers are marked (limited #) with the # indicating the amount we have available to use. Items marked limited will need to be shared between all artists during install days. If you anticipate needing access to any of the tools marked limited for long periods of time, please email Manuel Angeja ([email protected]) and let him know so that he can coordinate with the other installing artists ahead of time.

No Adhesives on Gallery Surfaces except for Artist and Masking Tape

The only adhesives that can be used directly on gallery surfaces include artist tape and masking tape.

or Com product directly on gallery surfaces and fixtures, including but not limited to walls, floors, ceilings, or pedestals, is prohibited. These products tend to cause damage that is more difficult to repair cleanly than typical pins, screws, or nails. If your project requires the use of a double sided tape or command strip style product contact Manuel Angeja at [email protected] to learn about how to use masking tape with double sided tape to protect artwork and gallery surfaces or to develop an alternative plan.No Smoking

Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is prohibited inside the Campus Gallery, or in an outdoor area within 20 feet of a main entrance.

No Drawing or Painting Directly on Gallery Surfaces

Drawing and/or painting on gallery walls, ceilings, and floors is not allowed.

Zero-tolerance Drug Policy

Pursuant to the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1989, the unlawful possession or use of a controlled substance is prohibited on the Campus Gallery premises, which is located on city property.

No Open Flames

All open flames for installations, exhibitions, performances or otherwise are prohibited inside the Campus Gallery.

No Aerial Performances

Aerial performances are prohibited. This includes performances that include climbing.

No Fog or Haze Machines

Notify CCA Exhibitions of Explicit Content

If there is any nudity, violence, or potentially offensive language in any of your exhibition’s content CCA Exhibitions must be notified in advance so that we can work with you to make sure content is properly labeled and our Gallery Assistants are equipped to interpret the material for visitors. The galleries are public facing, and we need to be considerate to all audiences. By no means will work be censored, but it is important for the gallery staff to be prepared to notify visitors of work that they may not necessarily want to directly engage with.

Notify CCA Exhibitions of Organic Matter, Fluids, and Scents

Organic materials, fluids, and scents must be approved by CCA Exhibitions before be included in your installation. You must include a description of these components in your Senior Exhibition Installation Plan or otherwise communicate them to CCA Exhibitions no later than two weeks before your first installation date in order for them to be considered for approval.
