Exhibitions Preparator

Last updated on May 08, 2024

The Exhibitions Preparator performs duties related to the implementation and maintenance of physical exhibitions and events coordinated by CCA’s Exhibitions Department. These exhibitions and events are held at the Campus Gallery (1480 17th Street), the PLAySPACE Gallery (N21, located inside the main building near the Hooper St. entrance), the Deborah and Kenneth Novack Gallery in CCA's Double Ground, as well as occasionally at other venues on and off campus.

The duties of the Exhibitions Preparator include handling, packing and unpacking artwork; assisting artists in finalizing their projects within the gallery or event spaces; installing and deinstalling artwork, signage and equipment; patching, sanding and otherwise repairing walls, pedestals and equipment; minor fabrication; cleaning floors and windows; organizing tools, equipment and supplies to ensure that proper resources are readily available; and other tasks involved in gallery, exhibition and event maintenance.

The Exhibitions Preparator is scheduled as needed based on when tasks are required to implement and maintain exhibitions and events. Preparators will be asked for their availability at least one month in advance of work dates. Please note that occasionally Exhibitions Preparators will be asked to work with as little as one day notice. We do not require Exhibitions Preparators to be available on all the dates we ask for but flexibility is a desirable qualification.

The Exhibitions Preparator reports to Manuel Angeja, the Exhibitions Installation Manager, whose office is located in the Campus Gallery at 1480 17th Street.

There will be opportunities to learn on the job so please do not let a lack of qualifications keep you from applying.
