Posted January 23, 2018, 9:49 AM

01/22/2018: Construction crews have completed phase one of rehabilitation work on the Third Street Bridge. The bridge is anticipated to re-open to all vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic by 5:00 PM, Monday 01/22/18. We are pleased to report that crews were able to complete counterweight repairs several days ahead of schedule. We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this first phase of repair work.

Bicycle detour route:

SFMTA will begin removal of the temporary bicycle detour route on Berry Street between 3rd and 4th streets starting on Tuesday, 01/23/18. Parking along the north side of Berry Street will be restored and normal metered parking will resume.

What's next:

The next phase of work on the Third Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project is anticipated to begin in late spring 2018. Actual construction start dates will be noted in future updates as a contractor schedule is still being developed. Once construction work starts, the bridge will be locked in the down position. Maritime vessels will not be able to request for the bridge to be raised for the duration of rehabilitation work.
