Event description

Join CCA Animation for a Bay Area Animation Industry panel on Monday, November 10th from 7-8:30PM. Panelists will briefly introduce themselves and their position in the Bay Animation scene speaking to how they started out and how they describe this current moment. Then students are invited to ask questions of panelists to get a sense of what makes the local scene unique and what they should expect when beginning their careers here.

Marti Romances from Territory Studio

Marti Romances is creative director and co-founder of Territory Studio, San Francisco.

Born and educated in Barcelona, Marti draws from a range of influences, disciplines, and perspectives to design breakout content for gaming, film, brand, and digital clients.  A motion graphic designer and multi-media artist, Marti articulates stories in the most captivating ways, blending creativity with technology to realize compelling future-facing experiences.


Marti’s technical virtuosity can be seen in fantasy, futuristic, and commercial projects. His visual and experiential motion GFX are featured in films such as Ad Astra, The Martian, Ex Machina, the Avengers franchise, Blade Runner 2049, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Marti also serves as an inspirational speaker, sharing his thoughts and experiences on design and creativity at events such as Siggraph, MWC, Nike Immersion Labs, XDS, FITC and OFFF.

Marti's willingness to experiment with bold ideas has also attracted gaming clients including Activision, Nintendo, EA Sports, 2K, Warner Bros. Games, and Microsoft, while brands seeking to implement Marti's design ethos into the architecture of their products include Nike, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, IBM, General Motors, Cadillac, and Magic Leap.

Jerry Van Der beek from Little Fluffy Clouds

Jeffry Pidgeon (Pixar)

Jeffrey Jon Pidgeon is a Pixar artist who has served variously as animator, writer, storyboard artist, and voice actor. He has also been heard as a voice actor in several Pixar features, such as the Aliens in Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3, Toy Story 4, and Toy Story Toons, Thaddeus Bile in Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University, and additional voices in A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. 

Outside of Pixar, Pidgeon's animation experience includes work on The Simpsons, the feature film Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, and the cult student film Bring Me the Head of Charlie Brown.

Christian Roman (Aardman, Pixar)

Christian Roman is an American animator, storyboard artist, producer and director. He is known for directing and executive producing the first season of the Disney Channel show American Dragon: Jake Long. He also designed the main characters and directed all 26 episodes of Disney's Fillmore!. Before Disney, he was a storyboard artist and storyboard supervisor on The Simpsons, during which time he wrote 'How to Storyboard The Simpsons Way'. He graduated from Boston University College of Fine Arts in 1991 with a degree in painting. In 2007 he started as a story artist at Pixar, and worked on several movies including Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4.
