The question to end all questions: how do you find a job that lets you write? Drawing on her experience as an award-winning writer, former Director of Literary Programs at PEN Center USA, and current associate publisher of the illustrious BOMB Magazine, Libby Flores will join us online to share her insights into balancing your own writing with a job in publishing and literary organizations. 

Libby Flores was chosen as one of eight writers in the United States to receive the PEN Emerging Voices Fellowship in 2008. Her writing has appeared in One Story Magazine, The Kenyon Review, American Short Fiction, Ploughshares, Post Road Magazine, FLASH: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, Waterstone Journal, Bridge Eight, Tin House/ Open Bar, Mc Sweeney's, The Guardian Books, Los Angeles Review of Books, Paper Darts and others. She has taught creative writing workshops for the Sackett Writing Workshop, Tin House Online, One Story, Hub City Writers Project, Bennington College, and PEN America. Libby was selected as a semi-finalist in the American Short Fiction Shorter) Contest judged by Stuart Dybek. In 2017 she was selected as Bennington Writing Seminars' first Fiction Fellow. She is the former Director of Literary Programs at PEN Center USA. In 2018 she directed the second annual Believer Festival. She's currently the Associate Publisher at BOMB magazine and the 2024 guest fiction editor of the Bennington Review. She is on the board of Housing Works Bookstore, the LitNet Steering Committee, and the Periplus committee where she is a mentor. Libby holds an MFA in creative writing from Bennington College. She lives in Brooklyn, but will always be a Texan.
