Event description
Eddie Ahn is the cartoonist of the graphic memoir Advocate, published by Penguin Random House in 2024. A nonprofit lawyer for 15+ years, he serves as the executive director of Brightline Defense, an environmental justice nonprofit based in San Francisco. He has also served in AmeriCorps, teaching art and public speaking workshops for elementary students.
A self-taught artist, Ahn’s art has been installed on utility boxes across San Francisco. He has been hosted as a Cartoonist-in-Residence by the Charles Schulz Museum and Guest of Honor by SF Zine Fest. His ongoing work can be found on Instagram @ehacomics.
Ahn will read from his work and then be joined onstage by CCA Comics faculty Justin Hall for a conversation about creating memoir comics, long-form vs. short-form stories, comics as advocacy, creative labor, and more. There will be a Q&A and then a reception and signing. The event is free and open to the public.
