Event description

Join MAP Studio’s Katherine Lambert and Christiane Robbins for an illustrated lecture and conversation centered on their new book, Architecture X Architecture: A Dialectic.

Working across architecture, visual media, and environmental research, Lambert and Robbins examine how emerging technologies are reshaping the architectural imaginary—and the material world that sustains it. Moving from speculative images to the physical infrastructures of computation, their work asks how technology shapes what architecture can imagine, what it overlooks, and what it ultimately brings into the world.

Following the lecture, Lambert and Robbins will be joined by Keith Krumwiede, Dean of Architecture at California College of the Arts, for a conversation about the work and its implications for architectural practice and education.

Copies of Architecture X Architecture: A Dialectic will be available for purchase at the event through William Stout Architectural Books.

MAP Studio—Metropolitan Architectural Practice—works across architecture, design, visual media, and research, examining the spatial, material, and cultural consequences of technological systems and connecting architectural speculation with environmental inquiry and public discourse.

Katherine Lambert, AIA, is an architect and founder of MAP Studio whose work brings together material experimentation, ecological intelligence, and design research. She is Professor of Architecture at California College of the Arts, where she previously chaired the Interior Architecture program.

Christiane Robbins is a founding partner of MAP Studio whose work spans architecture, digital and time-based media, moving image, and installation. Her work has been exhibited internationally at MoMA, the Whitney Museum, the Venice Biennale, the Gwangju Biennale, and SFMOMA, and she has served as Professor at the University of Southern California.
