Event description
The 3-hour workshop will examine techniques for sound post production (foley, ADR, Audio Suites and other). Use of microphones and audio recorders for both field sound recording and location-sound recording will be discussed and practiced. This session is Part II of the workshop that took place on February 4th and is open to Film program and Film Graduate students.
Instructor Bio:
Daniel Olmsted studied film production at SF State University, and was then hired onto the staff of the Saul Zaentz Company in Berkeley. Along with the work producing Zaentz’s well-known films, this company also provided post-production sound for clients including David Lynch, Wes Anderson, John Waters, Kathryn Bigelow and many others.
Dan served as a recordist and sound mixer until the company disbanded in 2005, and he still works on a wide variety of locally-produced films out of the Berkeley-based post-sound company IMRSV Sound. Dan has taught sound classes in CCA’s Film and Animation departments for the last ten years. He also plays guitar in local alt-country acts Loretta Lynch and Dandeline.
