Tear In The Tide

Event description
In the final year of California College of the Arts, this exhibition brings together 12 artists exploring the possibilities of photography through the prompt of making. Developed collaboratively from its title to its curation, the exhibition reflects a shared process of thinking, creating, and bringing work into conversation. Moving between the personal and the collective, the artists consider how we relate to our bodies, to one another, and to the environments we inhabit.
Their works engage with the California redwoods, the ocean and surfing, cultural identity and materiality, while experimenting with scale, repetition, and the malleable possibilities of the photographic image. Together, these practices explore making as both an individual and collective act: a way of paying attention to the world, discovering new ways of seeing, and imagining how we might relate to one another and the places we call home, even amid change and inevitable transitions.
