Event description
This event is to foster learning, create a sense of identification, and encourage engagement with creative professionals who bring a BIPOC and decolonial perspective to their work within the industry.
D AKT is a design studio that stands for "Design Aktive." Their philosophy is rooted in the belief that there's always a reason behind what we do, emphasizing thoughtfulness and consideration of location, culture, language, and community. D AKT practices are Social Design, Graphic Design, and Web Design, currently expanding into Sustainable Design.
Ramon Tejada is a LATINX designer and educator based in Providence, RI. With a focus on collaboration, inclusion, and the responsible expansion of design, he practices a method he calls "puncturing." A 2024 Vilcek Prize in Design recipient, he is also an Associate Professor in the Graphic Design Department at RISD and Chair.
The event will take place on April 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, both in person at CCA’s main campus in Room E1 and online via Zoom, followed by a live discussion.
