From Ron:

It will be a pleasure to present to CCA students a selection of work I produced and work that inspires me. I believe we should as artists pursue meaningful and purposeful work that resonates within us. I also believe we should aim to elevate the discussion surrounding social conscience, social action and to work to help heal the world through our own creative pursuits. I was fortunate to have two major influences in my life, that is after my family who have been loving, supportive and interested in my work. Both of my two primary mentors were artists, though both are gone, they still fuel me from our close friendships and their wisdom. Max Vaucher was my high school french teacher who was an artist and imbued within me the importance to seek, create and discover art in our everyday lives. I have endeavored to do this since starting my film studies with a BA and MA from UCLA and subsequent feature film productions which altered audiences expectations. I have been privileged to work with dozens of incredible animation artist directors and brought opportunity to them in the form of commissions that introduce levels of artistry never before seen in the commercial arena. I have found the work and the dynamic working together to be quite meaningful and inspring. I also discovered the satisfaction of introducing people to great animation and their creators, this was fueled by the theme of giving in Frederic Back's incredible animated short film The Man Who Planted Trees. Frederic was a artist animator, he brought life to his art in the form of time based media which takes viewers to familiar and beautiful places.

I'll present 20-30 minutes of film created by animators I admire and commercial work some of those created with me at my animation studio. I will gladly pause my presentation to take relevant questions as they occur to the students at that moment and welcome faculty's experiences along the same path. Overall this portion will last 60 minutes with plenty of anecdotes from a variety of productions to help illustrate the challenges I faced in my career and hopefully will inform students to avoid some major pitfalls.

With the remaining 30 minutes , I will respond to questions students ask. The objective for me in presenting these lectures is to dispel myths about career trajectories and ways to help improve students success and satisfaction. Students should come with questions!

I kindly ask that all attending students sit in close proximity to one another so I can see them all with the camera focused only on the students in the room. All students should bring a small spiral bound in expensive notebook and two pens, one just in case and one to loan a friend who forgot. No use of computers is requested.
