Event description

Alumna Jessamyn Violet returns to CCA for a lively reading and conversation about writing across genres, building a creative life, and the power of voice in fiction. She is the author of the acclaimed YA novel The Secret Rules to Being a Rockstar and the recently published Venice Peach. A multi-hyphenate artist, Violet is also the drummer for Movie Club, an instrumental psych rock duo based in Venice Beach, known for blending music and film in vivid, genre-defying performances.

Movie Club merges narrative and visual storytelling through original short films paired with live instrumental sets—bridging Jessamyn’s literary and musical worlds and pushing the boundaries of how stories are told.
