Event description
On the occasion of their exhibition METAXIS, Jason Kelly Johnson and Nataly Gattegno of FUTUREFORMS will present a lecture exploring how their practice operates in the space between art and architecture, concept and construction, perception and material form. Drawing from a decade of work featured in the exhibition, the talk will trace how models, prototypes, and built projects—from intimate studies to large-scale public sculptures—emerge through an iterative process that treats architecture as an active, shifting field of relationships rather than a fixed object. The lecture will be followed by a closing reception in the Campus Gallery, offering an opportunity to view the exhibition in conversation with the ideas behind it.
Jason Kelly Johnson is lead artist and co-founding partner of FUTUREFORMS, bringing expertise in computational design and advanced digital fabrication to projects situated between critical art practice and public space. He is a tenured Full Professor at California College of the Arts, where he is the Founding Director of the Digital Craft Lab.
Nataly Gattegno is lead artist and co-founding partner of FUTUREFORMS, whose work combines design research and urban speculation through the lens of art and architecture. She is Professor and Chair of the Graduate Architecture Program at California College of the Arts.Entry details
