Event description
Josh Kline works in installation, video, sculpture, and photography to examine how emergent technologies are reshaping human life in the 21st century. He has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, with recent highlights including a solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (2024), the 24th Biennale of Sydney and the 8th Yokohama Triennale (both 2024). In 2023, the Whitney Museum of American Art presented the largest survey of his work in the U.S.
Josh Kline was featured in the recent exhibition 8 Hours of Work and will also be included in the forthcoming 8 Hours of What You Will.
This screening is held in conjunction with the Wattis's LABOR research season:
This year, we focus on the theme of LABOR, using the nineteenth-century workers’ slogan “8 hours of work, 8 hours of rest, and 8 hours of what you will” as a framework and title. The Bay Area has been at the forefront of labor movements, while simultaneously creating industries that have reshaped the workforce not only in this city but across the nation and globally.
