Portal Knowledge Base

This quarter we launched a new Knowledge Base which will become the Portal’s hub for self-service technical documentation for the entire CCA community! The Portal Knowledge Base will help us deliver more consistent content, reduce editorial challenges, and increase information discoverability for end-users, and will be a growing library of content and How-To guides for common CCA software and systems. 

Our new Knowledge Base "How-To Page" Template is now live and optimized for creating guides with structured step-by-step instructions. Over time, we'll be adding new templates to the Knowledge Base section so that you'll be able to host other content formats such as FAQ's and Tip Sheets. 

Knowledge Base also features robust, Unified Search functionality and creates a browsing experience based on the use of tagged pages and a custom search specifically designed for KB articles.The KB How-To Page is also indexed in the Knowledge Base index and has a special display in Universal Search. It is filterable by the content tags designating Topic, Primary Audience, Platform, and Format.

Portal users will also notice several new updates to our Search Display.  In addition to a few design updates, we also now display links to various search indexes above the search bar for People, Courses, Shops, Events, and Knowledge Base. Note that Index-specific links will retain their existing query string when clicked (for example, an existing query string of "Josh" in unified search will carry over into a People directory search or Course directory search when an index link is clicked).

Bug Fixes & Improvements:

Scheduled Publishing Bug Fix:

  • We fixed a bug that prevented the use of the Scheduled Publishing feature in Wagtail. Editors can now schedule to publish or expire pages by adjusting the time in the page settings. 

Shops Catalog Favorites Bug Fix

  • This spring we fixed a Shop Catalog bug in which the "Favorites" functionality and filter stopped working.

Events Calendar Bug Fix

  • We fixed an Events Calendar bug in which wrong event times were displaying on calendar browse.

Breadcrumbs Bug Fix:

  • Fixed a bug where page breadrcumbs were not linking back to the page index.

Customized Sorting for Announcements:

  • We now allow customized sorting on announcements. The display of options for "original posting date" or "last updated" can be determined by the editor.
