Manage More Frequent Google Workspace Logins
Before you begin
Technology Services recently implemented a new requirement for staff to re-authenticate their Google account every 24 hours, and every 7 days for faculty and students. While we know this can be disruptive, the move was necessary to protect CCA and your account from the ever-increasing threat of cyber attacks.
To minimize the impact of the daily login requirement, we recommend these steps:
1 Login to Google first thing in the morning (or at the beginning of the week)
If you are a staff member, Google will automatically log you out of your account exactly 24 hours after the last time you logged in. We realize this means that some people are getting logged out in the middle of the day, perhaps in the middle of composing an email or working on a document. While we hope you have learned that this never results in a loss of work, we know that it can be quite disruptive.
If you log out of Google first thing in the morning, and then back in, you will be set up for an ongoing schedule that should not impact you during the day.
Similarly, for faculty and students, logging in at the beginning of the week should result in uninterrupted access through the week.

3 Use the Duo Mobile app for login
Your Google login will also require Duo as a 2nd factor login, to further protect your account. You can have Duo remember your device for 48 hours. Duo two-factor authentication, paired with shortened expiration times for your Google login, is the best protection available for your account.
If you are not already using the Duo mobile app, we strongly encourage you to enroll. Using the Duo mobile app is much easier and faster than a phone call, text or code entry, and is simple to set up.
