Registering IoT Devices to Wifi

Last updated on Jan 15, 2025

Before you begin

This document provides a step-by-step guide to manually register devices to the Wi-Fi network. This process is necessary for devices that do not have a web browser and thus cannot complete the usual registration process directly. By following these steps, you will ensure your devices can access the network without any issues.

1 Connect your laptop to the Wifi

This can be either CCA wifi or Residential wifi (Foundershall/Blattner), depending on your physical location. If you do not have a laptop, you can use any device with a browser.

2 Go to the Registration Page:

Open a browser and visit the status page to register

3 Log In to the Registration Portal

Use your CCA credentials to log in.

4 View Registered Devices and Register a New Device

Once logged in, you will see a list of your currently registered devices. Click on "Register another device"

5 Enter MAC Address:

  • On the next page, type in the wireless MAC address of the device you want to manually register. Note that the MAC address is sometimes referred to as the physical address.
  • You may need to search online (Google) to find out how to locate the MAC address of your specific device.
  • Mac-address is unique for each device and is a 12 digit number each pair separated by a ' : ' .
  • Click Register
  • Click Logout once you have finished the registration process

Important Notes:

  • Please ensure that you only register devices that you own, as all registered devices will be associated with your credentials.
  • If your device uses a randomized MAC address (often found in the privacy settings of your phone or laptop), you may need to re-register the device if you move from one location to another, such as from Founders Hall to CCA.
