With special permission, graduate students may request to register for undergraduate studio courses to satisfy graduate elective requirements before completing their degree.

NOTE: Permission does not guarantee enrollment. Even with special permission, graduate students cannot register themselves for undergraduate courses and cannot be administratively registered for them until Open Registration begins, assuming the courses of interest are still open.

See Cross-Level Registration for additional information.

Request Process

  1. Register for GELCT Grad-Wide Elective to ensure full-time enrollment to maintain progress toward degree completion and eligibility for financial aid, visa status, etc., as applicable
  2. Email your program chair and the program chair affiliated with the unapproved undergraduate studio course of interest to request permission to take it to satisfy a graduate elective requirement (see Current Academic Deans & Chairs)
  3. Forward written permission via email to Academic Advising (academicadvising@cca.edu) before the start of Open Registration
  4. If the course is still open after priority registration, we will contact Student Records with a request to register you for the course at the start of Open Registration
