Social Media Account Policy for Staff and Faculty Personal Accounts

Effective as of Aug 24, 2024 | Last updated on Aug 16, 2024

Who This Policy Applies To

The CCA community is encouraged to use their personal social media profiles to share about college activities, such as student work, on-campus events, courses, and more. This Staff and Faculty Account Policy is a critical advocacy tool to guide such mentions on social networking sites, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, Reddit, YouTube, Yelp, etc.

Related Policies

For employees and faculty posting content on behalf of the college and its programs with an officially affiliated account, please refer to our Sub-Brand Account Policy for guidance on professional practices. Please read our Student Clubs and Organizations Policy for accounts reflecting campus and residential life.

Policy Statement

CCA’s Staff and Faculty Account Policy is a living set of expectations for our community on social media platforms. This policy ensures we maintain the integrity of the CCA brand, share an online experience consistent with our on-campus one, and share accurate information to protect our students, staff, and faculty.

Personal Accounts and Privacy

An individual’s social media account is a space to freely express themself personally and professionally, whether sharing accomplishments, creative practices, or day-to-day life. Each platform has privacy settings, and staff and faculty should adjust to their comfort level.

Public posts could be widely visible to our internal community, alums, prospective students and their families, donors, and industry professionals. Staff and faculty might be seen as representing CCA online, especially if they actively include the college in their bios or post content related to their work at CCA. Posts can be (mis)understood to reflect the views of the college unless explicitly stated that they are their own.
