Chimera Cove: Student Lounge

Last updated on Feb 12, 2025

What is the Chimera Cove?

The Chimera Cove is a new student lounge as of Spring 2025. This is an active student lounge where all students are welcome! When Chimera Cove isn’t booked for student programming or events, students are welcome to lounge, have fun, and destress!

Fun fact: Students voted in the Fall 2024 semester on Campus Life's Instagram for the official name of this new lounge space.

What's in the Chimera Cove? The Chimera Cove features:

  • Free art & craft supplies for all students to use (paint, colored pencils, markers, hot glue supplies, sewing kit, etc.)
  • Several table-top games to play (mahjong, Monopoly, The Game of Life, Out of Bounds, Apples to Apples, playing cards, Cards Against Humanity, etc.)
  • Ping Pong table & shuffleboard/curling table
  • Yoga mats and picnic blankets to use/borrow, as needed
  • A communal microwave and refrigerator to cook and store your food (occasional compostable cutlery, plates, and cups)
  • Assorted free hot tea station with occasional free snacks to enjoy
  • TV monitor with an Amazon Fire TV Stick so students can log into their streaming accounts to watch movies, tv shows, and listen to music
  • Bulletin boards advertising campus events and opportunities
  • Free & anonymous basic needs shelf stocked with emergency essentials (travel-sized shampoo, deodorant, floss, and more).

Where is the Chimera Cove and how do I get there?

The Chimera Cove is located on the second floor of the Main Building (room S28) next to the new Photography Lighting Studio. It is also accessible by the Double Ground bridge.

Can I study and do homework in the Chimera Cove?

Students are welcome to study and do homework in the Chimera Cove. However, since this is an active lounge with events, high volume games, and music/movies playing, students looking for a more quiet space are encouraged to explore the Study Lounge on the 1st Floor of the Main Building next to the Multicultural Resource Center (E3).

Who can reserve and use the Chimera Cove?

For Spring 2025, this space is currently only able to be officially reserved by Campus Life (including Chartered Student Organizations), GrACE, and the Office of Student Belonging and Inclusion. These groups can email campuslife@cca.edu. All other use is first-come-first-serve and shared by all CCA community members. After Spring 2025, a more formal reservation process will be evaluated to include reservations from more groups.
