Parent FAQs
CCA will wind down its current operations and will close by the end of the 2026-2027 academic year. Vanderbilt will then become the owner of the campus and will establish undergraduate and graduate programming, including art and design programs, at the campus. We understand you may have many questions and have included detailed Q&As below for parents. For other questions not addressed here, please email questions@cca.edu.
Q. Will CCA students be able to continue their studies uninterrupted? Will all degree programs and courses remain in place for the time being?
A. CCA will continue to offer its degree programs and courses while the College remains open through the 2026-2027 academic year, with instruction, advising, and academic support in place so currently enrolled students can continue progressing toward their degrees. For students who will need additional time to complete their studies, we are working closely with accredited institutions to establish transfer and completion pathways. These arrangements will allow students to continue their studies without interruption, and more information will be shared about the teach-out plans as agreements are finalized. To maintain its focus on supporting current students, the college will not accept a new incoming class for fall 2026.
Q. Why wasn’t this shared sooner? Specifically, why weren’t we notified about this agreement exploration (even if there was no solid agreement in place) so that it would allow us the opportunity to explore other educational paths?
A. CCA shared this news as soon as it was able to do so based on resolution of an agreement with Vanderbilt. We understand that this news may feel sudden, and the College is committed to ongoing communication as information continues to develop. Sharing information earlier, before there was sufficient clarity about academic plans and available options, would have created uncertainty without giving families meaningful guidance.
Q. What is a teach-out agreement, and why is CCA planning for one?
A. A teach-out agreement is a formal arrangement with another accredited institution that provides a pathway for students to complete their degrees if they are not able to finish at CCA.
For students who will need additional time to complete their studies, we are working closely with accredited institutions to establish transfer and completion pathways. These arrangements will allow students to continue their studies without interruption, and more information will be shared about the teach-out plans as agreements are finalized.
Q. If my student applies to and is accepted as a student at Vanderbilt, or transfers to another institution through a teach-out agreement, will they offer the same tuition and/or financial aid package I was receiving at CCA?
A. Tuition and financial aid are determined by the institution a student transfers to, based on its policies and available funding, whether that is Vanderbilt or another college participating in a teach-out agreement, and may differ from what a student received at CCA.
As part of the transition, CCA is working to support students and families and to minimize disruption where possible, including through the development of formal teach-out agreements with accredited institutions. Families are encouraged to review any offer carefully and to speak with financial aid counselors at the receiving institution to understand costs and available support before making a decision.
Q. Once CCA closes, who will be responsible for managing my student’s academic records? If they need a transcript years from now, whom will they contact?
A. After CCA closes, Vanderbilt will serve as the official custodian of CCA’s academic records. This includes transcripts and other official academic documentation for former students and alumni.
CCA will share clear instructions before the College closes about how students and families can request records in the future. Records will continue to be maintained so that graduates can access transcripts and verification when needed for employment, graduate study, or other purposes.
