Financial support and scholarships

CSU East Bay is committed to ensuring that, for most CCA students, the total cost of attendance (tuition, fees, and room and board) will be no greater than what you would have incurred at CCA. You will receive scholarships, waivers, or discounts comparable to those you received at CCA for the current academic year, helping to keep your overall costs similar (or lower).

For a small number of students with the highest levels of financial support at CCA, additional coordination may be needed. CCA is working to identify options to support these students.

Scholarship matching: Teach-out partners base their financial aid and scholarship matches on your standard, baseline CCA institutional aid. One-time institutional aid, such as the CCA Legacy Award ($5,000 for undergraduate students and $2,500 for graduate students), financial aid petitions, or other non-renewable aid, is not factored into the teach-out matching calculations at any partner institution.

Streamlined admissions and waived fees

CCA students in good academic standing (a CCA GPA of 2.0 or higher) will be admitted into their corresponding aligned program, after submission of the Cal State Apply application, and will not be required to submit a personal statement, essay, or portfolio for admission. Students who are not in good academic standing at the time of transfer can still be considered for admission, but may be asked to submit additional materials (such as a portfolio or personal statement) for review.

There is no application fee. An enrollment deposit is required to enroll, but it will be applied to your tuition or other charges.

Full credit transfer

CSU East Bay will accept all credits earned at CCA, including those that CCA previously accepted from other institutions. Students will be required to submit official transcripts from other institutions directly to CSU East Bay. To the extent permissible and feasible, CSU East Bay will strive to articulate earned credits in the programs below with a focus on maintaining students’ timelines for degree completion.

Reduced academic residency requirement

To facilitate a seamless transition, CSU East Bay will waive its standard residency requirements for transferring CCA students. This means you are not required to complete a minimum number of units at CSU East Bay to earn your degree, provided you satisfy the remaining requirements for your specific program.

International Students

CSU East Bay will waive any additional English-language proficiency testing or documentation requirements for international students transferring under this agreement, such as TOEFL or IELTS, recognizing that CCA has already confirmed your English-language proficiency for full admission and enrollment.

Important for CSU applicants

While the CSU teach-out process is being finalized, we recommend that interested students complete both of the following steps:

1. Begin your Cal State Apply application. You can begin your application now and save your progress while you gather information and prepare to apply.
2. Complete the CCA Teach-Out Interest Form. This will help CCA identify students interested in the CSU teach-out pathways and coordinate with our CSU partners as implementation continues. When the Fall 2027 application submission period opens on October 1, 2026, you’ll be able to return to Cal State Apply, review your information, and submit your application.

Admissions and Enrollment Timeline

The timeline below provides an overview of the admissions and enrollment process. Some requirements may vary depending on your academic program, financial aid eligibility, housing plans, or international student status. Contact CSUEB’s admissions office (see contact info below) with any questions.

• August 10, 2026 - Application opens: CSU East Bay will begin reviewing teach-out applications.
• Approximately 3 weeks after submitting your application - Admission decision: You can generally expect to receive your conditional admission letter, and institutional financial aid information.
• After accepting your admission offer - Transfer credit evaluation: CSU East Bay will provide your initial transfer credit evaluation after you accept your offer of admission.
• Fall 2026 - Official transcripts (if applicable): If you previously attended another college or university, CSU East Bay may ask you to request official transcripts directly from those institutions.
• October 1, 2026 - FAFSA opens: Submit the 2027–28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible, designating CSUEB as a recipient.
• September 2026 - Information session: Attend a CSU East Bay information session. Session details will be shared as they become available.
• February 2027 - Financial aid offer: Students who complete the FAFSA can generally expect to receive their financial aid offer and additional cost information during this period.
• February 2027 - SEVIS records transfer: F-1 international students should request transfer of their SEVIS record beginning March 15, 2027, with a SEVIS record release date after CCA classes end on May 10, 2027, and before CSU East Bay classes begin. CSU East Bay and CCA’s International Student Services team will provide instructions to affected students.
• April 2027 - Housing application: Students interested in campus housing should submit their housing application during this period. The housing application fee is $40.
• May 2027 - Enrollment deposit: Submit your enrollment deposit if you decide to attend CSU East Bay. The enrollment deposit is $110.
• Late Spring 2027 - Housing deposit: Students planning to live in CSU East Bay housing should submit the required $250 housing deposit.
• October (date to be announced) - Campus visit: CSU East Bay will host a campus visit opportunity. Additional details will be shared as they become available.
