FURNT-2000: Studio
Course Description
This class is devoted to the production of multiples in furniture and domestic objects. This can include designs composed of multiple components, limited editions and small product runs. The need for collaboration and sub-contracting to realize a complex project and leverage other's expertise will be explored. Considerations include design in a variety of media, visual and oral communication, pricing, budget estimation and timelines. The potential of the 'multiple' to carry meaning distinct from that carried by the 'one-off' will be discussed. Several specific objects will be designed to particular briefs and a selection realized using the studio as a 'center of operations'. A product launch at a venue in San Francisco is an integral part of this course. Prerequisite: Intro to Wood/Furniture
