ILLUS-2202: Body in Motion
Course Description
This is a studio drawing class working from the live model nude and clothed. Medium is charcoal, charcoal pencil and brush, pen, and ink. The objective is to learn how to articulate a dynamic and proportionate figure in poses ranging from 1-10 minutes. Learning the skills to draw a dynamic figure using a diagrammatic method that teaches how to draw a “stick figure with attitude”. This simple figure becomes the frame for contour line, value, and pen and ink wash. Each class session features a different model nude and clothed. Poses that show movement are emphasized. Whenever possible the poses mimic everyday activities. This will be especially helpful for Illustration and Animation students who need to have many types of human activities in their visual repertoire. Fashion students benefit by learning to see and record how clothing moves and shifts in daily activities.
