WRLIT-3082: Literary Journal: Print Edition

Course Description

Required of Writing and Literature majors and minors. Humble Pie, the literary arts journal of the Writing and Literature Program, showcases literary and visual arts with a multilingual focus. Students in the class serve as editorial, marketing, and production staff for a print journal, gaining hands-on experience in determining and publicizing the focus and scope of the issue, selecting written and visual submissions, planning and laying out text in book format, and discussing what it means to produce a print journal in these times. Students also plan and host a public journal launch, which coincides with the Spring Senior Showcase reading. These experiences give students a diverse set of Professional Practice skills useful for publishing and connecting with others involved in the literary arts.
