Description:
This Storytelling Tools and Production workshop: 2D Cinematic Techniques will explore the cinematic and 2D production techniques used in storytelling for animation. Working with established storylines, sound and character models, animation sequences will be created using the Harmony Suite. Exploration will begin with concept and storyboard analysis and carry through to final timing, camera, and color. Color scripts will be developed to define lighting, character emotion, mood, and story tension. Scripts, camera angles, shot setups, and scenes will be studied and refined as students learn production skills such as composing for the screen, arranging visual elements, and directing the viewer's eye. Students will be investigating the possibilities within a storyline as they plan and create action sequences with their characters. The class will also focus on transitions between shots and scenes through the use of color and effects. The objective of this class is to produce a finished sequence, complete with character acting, prop design, painted backgrounds, camera moves, and accompanying sound.
