Description:
Online course sections will be delivered mostly asynchronously, with some synchronous components that will be outlined in the course syllabus if applicable. All class work can be completed remotely, your instructor will work with you to ensure that you have the necessary tools and resources. Sound influences the way we watch a film in many interesting ways. This class will explore the role sound plays in a film, and study the techniques for creating film-sound design. Sound effects recorded in the field, voices recorded in a studio, the creation of 'Foley' sound and even original music-all these elements can be created by students for their animated films. We'll study audio recording, sound editing and mixing, and also view and discuss films of interest. Students will emerge from the class feeling comfortable with all the skills needed to create sound for their films.
