Description:
Acting is more than showing the audience how a character feels. Acting is creating all of the character’s behavior; it’s through the characters’ behavior that the audience understands the story. Creating believable behavior for characters is central to good storytelling, and good acting skills are the key to creating that behavior. In this course, students learn how to apply acting concepts and methods to their work in animation, so they can create dynamic performances that connect with audiences. The class examines live-action and animated film clips, analyzes scripts & scenes for subtext and meaning, dives into facial expressions and body language, and introduces a variety of simple and immediately usable acting tools and techniques. Students rehearse and perform in scenes directed by the instructor, participate in acting and improv exercises, and work on projects that include shooting reference. No acting experience is necessary.
