Description:

This course synthesizes technical aspects utilized in the development and understanding of building systems. Based on the fundamental principles and analytic techniques introduced in Materials & Methods, Structures, and Building Energy, students examine the appropriate application and integration of building materials, assemblies and equipment in order to comprehend the interconnectedness of systems and the metrics critical to the evaluation of performance. Lectures examine building systems including structure, envelope, mechanical and service systems, and explore system performance, integration strategies and metrics that will provide critical insight into the evaluation process. Lab sessions focus on researching exemplary case studies, utilizing diagramming and modelling techniques for describing and analysing the mechanics of material and energy.
