Description:
This seminar/studio class will help students continue developing the necessary skills and tools to generate three-dimensional design objects. Students will be introduced to the properties of materials and manufacturing processes for plastics (polymers), sheet metal, wood, glass, fibers, ceramics, and biomaterials through a series of in-class lectures and exercises. Students will gain knowledge in cost analysis, product development, sustainability, design strategy, product life cycle, and ethics. While gaining technical proficiency, students will also be encouraged to experiment, take risks, and explore their avenues of creative inquiry with a final project.
