Description:
Materials and Manufacturing introduces students to the properties of materials and manufacturing processes and how both are expressed in designed objects. In this seminar class students are introduced to the manufacturing processes used for industrial materials, such as, plastic, sheet metal, die-cast metals, and biomaterials along with the rules and parameters specific to each. In addition, students will be introduced to the principles of prototyping utilizing materials suited for remote learning. Skills and knowledge covered in this course: cost analysis, product development, materials, manufacturing, sustainability, product life cycle, and ethics.
