Description:
Materials and Manufacturing introduces students to the properties of materials and manufacturing processes and how both are expressed in designed objects. In this seminar class students are introduced to the manufacturing processes used for industrial materials, such as, plastic, sheet metal and die-cast metals along with the rules and parameters specific to each. Skills and knowledge covered in this course: cost analysis, product development, history of ID, materials, manufacturing, sustainability, design strategy, product life cycle, and ethics.
