Description:
This course explores the potential that physical, digital, and hybrid archives and collections offer as model, form, and methodology. Students will learn how to see the archive, considering experimental approaches and best practices in response to their own research interests and examining case studies such as Bay Area and international archives and collections, Internet and pop culture material, data, and natural history collections. Students will undertake their own design research, writing, and presentation; whether following new research interests and methods, or re-filtering and reframing current studio work. This course may include guest speakers and field trips.
