Description:
The human population is expected to double again by the year 2050, with a resulting demand on the earth’s finite resources. What will food in the future look like, and how will it take form? These questions will frame the projects, assignments and field trips for this class on the design and experience of food. While examining the history of manufacturing and production technologies of modern agricultural economies, students will be asked to consider more utopian perspectives of biotechnology, alternative economies, and green thinking towards food as a design object/subject. This is a research-based studio class.
