Description:
Augmented Interaction explores a near future where AI doesn’t just assist—it acts, suggests, interrupts, and sometimes decides. Designers must shape these behaviors. Through research and hands-on projects with generative systems—text, image, video, code, and objects—students will create interactions where AI takes on roles like collaborator, advisor, or agent—even with autonomous systems. [Why can’t I talk to my Waymo?] Through readings, making, writing, and more making, the course examines when systems should act on their own, when they must ask, and how they reveal (or conceal) intent. Open to all disciplines, but expect rapid iteration and uncomfortable questions about control, authorship, and trust around systems that people will live—and negotiate—with every day.
