Description:
This course will be an overview of some of the techniques and strategies behind small press publishing. Each student will work towards creating an artist book or printed edition while learning skills such as Risograph printing, perfect binding, and silkscreen printing among others. The class will focus on DIY techniques so as to put an emphasis on low cost but high quality publishing. The course will take advantage of the production resources available at school while integrating the possibilities of working with local businesses to enhance their print projects. We will visit a print shop, finishing shop and bindery, as well as be visited by local publishers and artists.
