Description:
Fashion Illustration 1 is a studio drawing class which focuses on figure drawing to develop a thorough anatomical understanding of the human form. Emphasis is put on innovation in materials and creativity in expressing a personal aesthetic. You will develop inventive ways to portray fabrics and clothing on the body in preparation for fashion design classes. Required media includes, pencils, charcoal, inks, brushes, gouache, drawing twigs, and collage materials.The class is divided into two parts. The first 3 hours is live model drawing which focuses on anatomy, proportion of the body within itself, weight distribution to find balance in a pose, and learning to find subtleties within the body to give it character and expression.The 2nd 3 hours focuses on development of a croquis figure using visual references and mixed media. This portion of the class also focuses on garment drawing and fabric. You will be encouraged to be experimental and expressive.
